Divertimento for Saxophone ensemble and pre-recorded instrumental accompaniment by Oscar Navarro

“Arabian-Gypsy promenade” is a divertimento inspired both by Arab dances and typical gypsy singing songs, all merged into a single score. A feeling of dance impregnates the whole piece, where the ensemble of saxophones and other pre-recorded instruments offer the character of Arab music with the gypsy touch. The general mood of the work transports us into an atmosphere of popular music: casual, improvised, fun, and even daring. Clearly this piece is not deeply enrooted in the actual Arab and Gypsy folklore music, but they both serve as an inspiration, and the mixture of both creates a new sense of musical culture.
